Where were you arrested? A DUI is a state offense, but each jurisdiction handles them slightly differently.

Survey: Nearly half of us drink and shop

As we all know, alcohol can often have a calming effect on people and it can also loosen inhibitions. That is why it can be risky to shop after you've had a drink or two. According to a recent survey, nearly half of Americans said they have made a purchase online while under the influence of alcohol.

Of course, the risk of drinking and shopping is not nearly as dangerous as drinking and driving. All you risk with intoxicated shopping are puzzling purchases and credit card pain, while with drunk driving you are at risk of a DUI arrest, jail, losing your Arizona driver's license and much more.

The survey by the personal finance website found that on average, Americans spend $447.57 when they drink and shop. That is about twice as much as the 2017 average, the website says.

According to a report from a Phoenix TV station on the survey, the top items on the drinking-and-shopping list are food, shoes and clothes.

Perhaps even worse than shopping while tipsy is drunk gambling; about a quarter of those surveyed like to gamble after they've consumed alcohol.

Of course, you can't get arrested for drinking and gambling on your couch any more than you can get arrested for drinking and shopping on your couch. Those who get off of their couches and drive after drinking risk not only being involved in a car accident, but also the possibility of being arrested for driving under the influence, going to jail, losing their license and being required to install an ignition interlock device in their vehicle - at their expense.

If you face those punishments, contact an attorney experienced in effective DUI defense.
