If you are stopped for a DUI in Arizona, there are a few important do’s and don’ts to be aware of:

1. Firmly but politely demand to speak with your attorney
2. Provide the police officer with your license, registration and proof of insurance when asked
3. Refuse to do the eye test (HGN) and/or any other field sobriety tests
4. You have the right to remain silent, so use it. Any and all admissions that you make can be used against you
5.Do consent to do the blood, breath or urine test only after a confidential call with your attorney, unless the call will unduly delay the investigation
6. Request that your blood or breath sample be preserved for independent testing
7. Demand to be immediately released for an independent test

After a DUI arrest in Arizona, it is always advisable to speak with an experienced Arizona DUI defense attorney about your case, and to retain counsel as soon as possible to protect your rights.
