Where were you arrested? A DUI is a state offense, but each jurisdiction handles them slightly differently.

Arizona man arrested on DUI suspicions after graduation crash

Being convicted of drunk driving can have extremely negative repercussions for your life and your work. Aside from potential fines and perhaps jail time, you could face the loss of your license or even dismissal from your job. The resultant emotional and financial burdens can also put a strain on family life. In Arizona, a 22-year-old man could be facing this reality after being charged with drunk driving following a recent accident.

The incident happened late one evening when the driver allegedly lost control of his vehicle, crashing into two pedestrians. The pair both suffered injuries with one, an ASU graduate, receiving treatment at the scene. The other pedestrian, the graduate's mother, was taken to a hospital, having suffered more serious injuries.

The young driver was arrested and faces charges of assault, endangerment and aggravated DUI. A police sergeant who attended the accident claims that the driver seemed impaired, was slurring his speech and had bloodshot eyes. If he is convicted of the charges against him, it could have a long-term effect on his career options and his reputation. Furthermore, he may be burdened by the knowledge of the injuries done to the two pedestrians.

It is important to note, however that many of the signs of a drunk driver can also point to other issues, such as illness or fatigue. Furthermore, when carrying out a DUI arrest, an officer must follow certain protocols. If the procedure is not correctly adhered to, the case may be deemed invalid.

Young drivers in Arizona can learn from this man's plight. It is essential to stay alert on the roads at all times, to avoid being suspected of intoxication. However, if you face drunk driving charges, all is not lost. A knowledgeable attorney can be a valuable asset in building your defense. They may also be able to help you identify any flaws in your arrest that might lead to a dismissal of the charges.
