A Phoenix man has recently been arrested stemming from an incident involving a vehicle crashing into a house. Phoenix police suspect that the man was driving under the influence as he was driving through a residential neighborhood and lost control, running his car into the house. The man has been charged with DUI as well as multiple other crimes.
According to the police report, at around 10:30 p.m. around 69th Avenue and Indian School Road, police received a call alleging that an erratic driver was in the neighborhood. The crash occurred just minutes after the call was made. When police arrived, police could see the tire marks leading from the road to the sidewalk and into some rubble, which used to be a fence surrounding the house.
Police hypothesized that the vehicle, a black BMW, ran over the fence in front of the house, and the vehicle possibly became momentarily airborne. Ultimately, the vehicle smashed into one of the walls of the house. The wall was part of a 12-year-old girl's bedroom, and she was very lucky to escape harm in the accident.
The man was arrested and charged with DUI as well as other charges, including criminal endangerment and criminal damage. However, the report does not indicate if any sobriety tests were administered in order to determine if the Phoenix man really was driving under the influence or if he just lost control of his vehicle. While he may still have to prepare his criminal defense against the other charges, if any sobriety tests were not administered, his DUI charge may ultimately be reduced or dropped entirely due to lack of evidence.
