Where were you arrested? A DUI is a state offense, but each jurisdiction handles them slightly differently.

Arizona man pleads guilty to felony charge

Many drivers in Arizona experience an accident at some point in their lives, no matter how careful they are. The more experienced you become, the more your confidence grows and the better you know your limitations. However, this can come with its risks. Unfortunately, while you may feel confident behind the wheel, you could still be over the legal limit. Regardless of how capable you may still be, if you are involved in an accident, you could still be charged.

For one man from Arizona, this became a devastating reality after he became embroiled in a fatal accident that claimed the life of a 75-year-old man. The 52-year-old?s vehicle strayed into the path of the older man?s motorcycle, hospitalizing both of them.

The following day, he was arrested on DUI charges and later faced a felony charge of manslaughter. However, since he had no history of criminal violence and this was the first felony on his record, he was able to acquire a reduced sentence of seven years, in a plea deal.

This is not the path for everyone, but in some cases pleading guilty can be the best way to minimize the consequences of conviction. An attorney can advise you on whether this could benefit you or whether another course of action may be more viable. He or she may also be able to help you form your defense and support you through your trial.
