Where were you arrested? A DUI is a state offense, but each jurisdiction handles them slightly differently.

Arizona man pleads guilty to DUI

When you have been involved in an accident, officers attending the scene will want to know what happened, what condition you were in while driving and whether anything you did may have contributed to the accident. In particular, they are likely to check whether you were under the influence of drugs or alcohol, even if another driver initially appears to have been the one at fault in the crash. If you are found to be over the legal limitt, you could face DUI charges.

In Arizona, a 52-year-old man has entered a guilty plea after being charged with driving under the influence, as well as manslaughter. The charges came after he was involved in a tragic accident with a motorcycle. The 75-year-old motorcyclist died a few days after the incident. Meanwhile, the younger man was found to have been driving at over twice the legal limit. His BAC was allegedly measured at 0.165 percent.

Along with the manslaughter and DUI charges, he was also charged on two other counts, both of aggravated assault. However, as he entered into a plea agreement, the charges against him were reduced. He could stand to be imprisoned for between three and 12.5 years when the judge passes sentence.

DUI convictions are always serious, but if you feel that conviction is inevitable, a plea deal may be the choice for you. An attorney can advise you on your options and may be able to explain the possible consequences of taking this path. However, a successful agreement could enable you to receive a much lighter sentence than you otherwise would.
