Arizona woman faces drunk driving accusations

If you are involved in a car accident, there’s a good chance that law enforcement officials will want to interview you. Their role is to determine whether your actions or physical condition may have contributed to the crash. This may involve a number of tests to figure out if you may have been intoxicated. Failure could lead to you being charged with drunk driving, or being arrested for further testing.

In Arizona, a 65-year-old woman is currently facing this very reality after an accident in San Tan Valley. The crash happened early one afternoon as the woman traveled along the highway, passing through a construction zone. According to witnesses, her vehicle clipped a water truck as she passed. Next, she allegedly collided with a construction worker, who wasknocked into the air, then under some construction equipment.

Workers claim she was in excess of the speed limit, while witnesses have also accused her of disposing of a vodka bottle when she left her car. She has been arrested on several counts, including criminal damage, aggravated assault and DUI. Results of a blood test to determine her blood-alcohol numbers have yet to be returned. However, she claims to recallnothing about hitting either the truck or the worker.

If the results show her blood-alcohol content to have been in excess of the state legal limit of 0.08 percent, it could strengthen the charges against her.
